Ready-To-Assemble Kits
Unlike many so-called kits out there, my skin boat kits actually
come ready to assemble. These are not simply a lumber package
and a set of plans. The idea behind the kits is that nearly
anyone can build one using just a few basic hand tools, and
that they can do it right in their living room or on some
remote beach.
A True North skin boat kit comes with absolutely everything
you'll need to get on the water. The detailed instruction
manual will guide the builder through each and every step
of assembly, sewing and coating. Every piece is finished and
has, in fact, been test-fitted for accuracy. The ribs come
shaped, cut, and numbered, ready for placement in their corresponding
mortises. The parts are made exactly the same as with my custom
boats, and from the same materials. The only difference is
that when the project is finished it will be you with raw
and calloused hands from pulling countless lashings instead
of me. You will also have the satisfied feeling of owning
a beautiful, high-performance boat that you built.
